What was discussed
The current state of my progression has slowed, as I have been reflecting on the current art practice and reading through the reflective journal to help me fall back on track in what it was I had set out to do. The work fools gold was discussed and on how it has developed through to being preciously made with gold and how it holds an experience for the viewer as it is there choice on whether they find out what’s inside. After the last tutorial in my mind set to get the work over as a happening for the audience to encounter, for to share my experience of fear and questioning about the afterlife and how the curiosity of man has influenced this thought. To help the practice get motivated in creating again it was suggested to try and draw at least 5 images a day to help in the development and progression of the art work.
Plans for practical development and research
To review art practice and develop the ideas I have further, researching the theories and attributes of memory and everyday life. To get involved in drawing ideas up, although not for a final solution. Look at how other artists create an experience.
Focus issues arising from tutorial
To use the cocoon project as a developing project and focus on other works that are stronger. Finalizing fools gold project and sitting waiting hoping, to get work resolved for exposition.

What was discussed
The development of the practice how and what is being produced and how the practice has moved form the aspect of death to a more personal memory of questioning about life after death, how is the current work related to the practice, why is it that I have moved towards this direction. The personal aspect has been a strong influence and direction that my work has been taking during the last several months it has been through own reflection of life and experience that I have come to realize how the visual art practice is more about my self than initially realized. The progression the work has made has been an interesting development through textiles and video installation. Consciousness continued exhibited at the Surface Gallery, lacked a desirability standard to the pieces that were being given away, maybe the materials or quality could have been improved to let them have a stronger value. Although every piece that were added to the frame were removed and taken away. So maybe this indicates the different standards and tastes of people.
Plans for practical development and research
To look at artists who have a personal narrative and collective memory to there work, although are able to give the audience an experience by them viewing the work, Louise Bourgeois, Annette messenger also listen to the writer David Sedaris and the way he brings humor to some tragic personal memories on his life. The work should be open and simple to give the audience an experience of their own, is the work art therapy.
Focus issues arising from tutorial
To focus on how the audience can experience the work, how do they relate to the aspect of the visual, research artists discussed further and the connections they create in their works.

What was discussed
Feedback from diploma presentation and chain reaction. Issues regarding the presentation and the aspects of chain reaction that was interesting to the practice, it was suggested that methods of presenting should be applied to the practice and professionalism should be used. Areas that came up further were the personal area to the project and how has an interesting concept, technical skills have a versatile property that that is shown within the work I create.
Plans for practical development and research
To perfect the ability for presenting work, to gain confidence in the practice. Stop being so apologetic. See the talent I have and push it forward.
Focus issues arising from tutorial
Presentations are at postgraduate level and I should be able to reflect this. Think about the aspect of my memories to the connection of the work.

What was discussed
Learning agreement, blog content, development of practice and idea incentives. The notion of the content of the blog and the way it works to a first time viewer, it seems a bit confusing in some places and needs to be easy reading. Discuss the unique qualities within the practice, the blog such be made evident within the printed/creative reflective journal, using the learning agreement as a guide to the outcomes and assessments how and why does the art practice and research undertaken during the MA relate to the outcome goals. Analysis and draw together how it has gone and what went well. also analysis the learning agreement and the changes and developments. The practice should drive the inquiry, using philosophy as the method, include information of the new direction in which the practice has traveled. Evidence of learning outcomes.
Plans for practical development and research
To produce a report on the the evidence of the learning outcomes, showing the progression from each stage of the MA programme, putting them into context and understanding of development. To narrow down the research and allow the art practice to direct the progression of the work. updating of blog, completion of professional practice, application of art submissions and proposals.
Focus Issues arising from tutorial
Submission of proposals for exhibitions and commissions. Make blog easy reading, update practice and let this led the work.

What was discussed
Idea development of the practice, of the work displayed within the exhibition transition. The idea of the practice and the context behind the project.
questions from the audience intrigued and developed my professional speaking in front of an audience, before the talk began i wanted to have a professional edge to the way i spoke to the audience, video documentation was recorded and can be seen on the transition curatorial page.
It was really quite interesting to hear peoples view on the work and how and the juxtaposing of the animation and physical work. People seemed to be interested in how i had created the animation believing that i had taken every single frame and manipulated it in Photoshop, Whereby i had used a programme that incorporated the technique of applying define edges that created the effect used for the animation.
The video documentation of the artist discussion can be viewed on the blog page Transition Curatorial.

What was discussed
Feed back from Diploma Presentation. A written report was also given and the points on the form were briefly discussed. Points regarding the progression through the diploma seemed positive but I should be directing the research and narrowing it down to one particular area. Think about the area of technology and the connection it may have to the area of the secret of the afterlife. need to stop getting so involved with the complications and allow the work to develop it self, the context is to evident with actual facts and not so much your own ideas and thoughts on the subject.
Plans for Practical Development and Research
Narrowing down the context and concentrate on the art practice and let this lead the practice, to develop the use of the technology as a representation to the art practice. analysing the theory of artist research and phenomenology. To develop a professional mannerism in presentations, this is to be undertaken in development with a colleague.
Focus issues arising from the tutorial
The development of the art practice seems to be evident and the documenting of research and analyzing of the research as well as practicing presentations and improving and becoming professional in seminars and presentations.

Plans for practical development and research
To understand the notion that the work needs to speak for itself, that the element of times based is not evident unless it is shown to the audience, although from this tutorial i have understood that it was hard to inform them of this as i was unable to say at the beginning although if it was a properly installed piece the audience would walk into the time based element of the work. the idea of the door did not work either, although because i showed a few pieces rather than sticking to one, this confused the audience as they were unsure on what they were looking at, although the PHD student did seem to understand when someone mentioned the context of the work, suggesting that they may need to be text that situates itself alongside the work.

What was discussed
At present there are a range of practical art forms taking place. The bed made from seeds which has been sampled, although needs further progression of sampling as to think that it is more than a black and white design for a bed cover. Other art forms being created are drawings that relate to a void and consciousness, to rethink the title of the work, as it seems to be subtle. Although everything I ever produce has a subtly about it, so maybe I should begin to develop out of this area. Need to think about the desirability of the drawings and the ceramic forms with the pennies inside, to gain an understanding of how the public will interact with them.
With all pieces a feeling or association is coming out about transformation, maybe even sinister in the way things are crawling over the surfaces, for me the work is looking at the idea of transformation within a questioning of what happens when we die, do we simply turn to dust or do we live on somewhere other? Life, death and life after death are a continuing transformation, I feel that the work is a process and how I don’t feel that I personally have to complete the piece, as interaction from something more seems to be a high interaction within parapsychology, whether this be human interaction or natural forces, that create the piece.
To retake the snow photos somewhere where there is no track marks in the snow, as on viewing the pictures the mind begins to question the markings in the snow.
Discussion of the glass forms, and how it works but is very religious.
Plans for practical development and research
Look at artists whose work is about process. Not to think about the context so strongly but to hold it in the back of the mind. To complete the bed piece to be able to see how it is working. Retake snow photos. Submit work for rules of the game. To start unpicking the wedding dress, saving all the threads and fabric to recreate into something else contacting to the context of reincarnation.

To think about the desirability of the pieces I want the audience to take away with them? Carry on with practice and the finalizing of the work. Documentation of the wedding dress in both stills and movie and rather than thinking what the piece is to transform into, let the process be the work.

How the work is being developed and how it can be explored further, a gaining of confidence is needed in myself to get the work finalised and seen. To stop prolonging the inevitable and get the work set up, to see if it is a failure or success. To not get caught up on the exploration and let the practice lead the exploring of research.
Plans for practical development and research
Finish and get the pieces set up. Documentation of work.
Explore the area of phenomenology and the areas of belief and consciousness.
Focus issues arising from the tutorial
To finish the work and get it set up, think about the location of the final pieces and how the audience will interact with them.

What was discussed
Presentation feedback.
To think more directly about the exploration and consider a wider area that brings the work to an innovative context that grabs and challenges new thinking. Since the presentation the work has been more directed to the avenue of life after death and the consciousness of a person. The possibilities of the subject becoming a wider practice as well as thinking how the ideas can further progress the practice. To have new conclusions brings new ideas into the context and practice of the work. Also within the presentation I made a few assumptions that I cannot do, so i should be aware of these issues and not make assumptions. discussion on possible areas that are related to the area of parapsychology i.e scientific theories, supernatural, the idea of a belief.
Plans for practical development and research
To explore the context of the afterlife and parapsychology more broadly, hopefully to bring more issues and situations into the exploration of the practical work. to complete and finish existing work that needs to be explored to see the reaction of an audience and whether the work is successful.
Focus issues arising from the tutorial
To explore the areas of the afterlife more deeply and broadly as well as exploring areas that lay within this area of parapsychology. To complete existing work and move forward with new innovative ideas that can engage an audience. to concentrate on artists who explore a similar subject matter and gain understanding of there approach on the subject.

What was discussed
The progression of the work, how is the area of death and the afterlife being researched, take into account the area of anthropology, scientific, political, cultural, spiritual and social. At present I am being a tourist within these areas as I don’t want to limit the research and I am researching a wider context that will be narrowed down, when a particular area sparks within me.
The work so far has been directed at the religion of Christianity, subconsciously to my up bringing, although I am not wanting to direct the work in this way, as it is not the belief I hold anymore.
During the research I have noted that the interest lays within me, and it is the thought that I am unsure of when I will die which makes me think that today could be my last. The practical work has developed into my final letters, that I intend to write every Monday at present and have a continuous art form developing, this will hopefully form into an installation piece that is connected to the patterning used within embroidery. Another art piece is the packing of my clothes for death; this to is to be a continuous life project with a suitcase being packed every time a change in life occurs.
Plans for practical development and research
To widen the context and look more openly at different issues surrounding the area of death and the afterlife. To not focus at present on one particular area. I need to be more aware of gender issues and the political, social and religious implications on this subject. I need to research artists that have worked in a similar context and understand how they have approached this subject matter.
Focus issues arising from the tutorial
Broaden the subject area, and find what it is a really am doing and what it is I want to say. To question the intentions and think about what the viewer is to get out of it. To break down the subjects into subsections, to show and understand the paths I am following.
